Upcoming Data Science research opportunities for undergraduate and M.S. students:


1) Data Science Summer Fellowship

Description: The fellowship is a 8-week summer experience in which student teams work on a real data science project under the supervision of a faculty and industry advisor. Activities include technical and professional training workshops as well as talks by industry professionals and researchers in Data Science.

2) Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Data Science Challenge

Description: This intensive 2-week full-time training program provides challenging exercises and assignments, tours, and seminars. For 2 weeks, you’ll work on an important data science problem while learning from experts, networking with peers, and developing skills for future internships. You’ll also get a taste of day-to-day life at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), where we have a passion for national service. The program will take place at LLNL

3) NSF REU

Description: The summer program is a 8-week research experience in which each student will work on a data science project under the supervision of at least one UCR faculty member. Activities include data science bootcamp, professional development workshops, and research seminars.

Eligibility: undergraduate students majoring in STEM and US citizens or US permanent residents. Applicants must not have completed an undergraduate degree prior to the completion of the summer program.
